Chocolate eye

From a distance, I thought he had a black eye. No, it's chocolate icing.

Thought to ponder: How much of a franchise's sales are made up of their original products?

I'm thinking food, mainly fast food older than a couple of decades, where tastes and fads have had a chance to impact.

The thought is: Can a brand change from its core products and actually survive? This was inspired by car brands but could be extended to other areas, too.

Some criteria I thought of:
- Original product list would be from the first licensed franchises or once more than ten or so stores opened.
- Revival as new product name does not count as an original product.
- Minor tweaks to a product name that continuously ran during name change is counts as original.
- For pizzas: crusts, toppings, and sauces matter.
- If ingredients change without a change to the menu, the product counts as original.
